Martha Jones, DVM

Medical Director

Martha Karcher, DVM

  2. Year started at C.A.H.: 2002, then moved to the South clinic, rejoined Clermont 2013
  3. What you like best about working at C.A.H.: My coworkers are simply wonderful. Everyone is so completely devoted to their work.  CAH is a very well structured & dynamic practice.  Every day is unique.
  4. Special area of interest: compassionate animal care
  5. Favorite breed or type of animal: Shi Tzu

Tell us about your pets: "George", (6/06) Ragdoll Mix rescued as a kitten from a storm drain.  "Barney", (2/10) Terrier Mix rescued as a one year old stray.  "Joe", (6/10) Maine Coon Mix rescued as a stray from Sanford Zoo.  "Sam", (6/11) Tuxedo cat, rescue "drop off" kitten from CAH South. "Macy", (7/10) Poodle/Shih Tzu Mix adopted as puppy.
  7. Hobbies other interests outside of work: needlework, cross stitch, gourd crafting, being a Grandmother :)


Laura Bork, DVM

  2. What you like best about working at C.A.H.: The family environment apparent amongst both clients and co-workers. 
  3. Special area of interest: Internal medicine, clinical pathology 
  4. Favorite breed or type of animal: yorkie, maltese, any & all small breed dogs
  5. Your pets:  "Maggie" rescued geriatric Golden with injuries that needed a home (pictured)
  6. Hobbies other interests outside of work: amusement park enthusiast, 90's pop music fan, football fan

Jessica Higgins, Practice Manager

  2. What you like best about working at C.A.H.:  I love working with the animals and getting to know their owners.
  3. Special area of interest at CAH: keeping up with the scanning of records
  4. Favorite breed or type of animal: I love them all
  5. Tell us about your pets:  "Spooky", (7/08) (pictured) white Husky with blue eyes.  "Moloc", (8/05)  black/white Husky with one blue eye & one half blue/half brown eye.  "Min Cin" (5/09) brown Lab Mix rescued from LCAC. "Salem" (9/04) tuxedo DSH.  "Sweetie" & "Timmy"  DSH tabbies (brother & sister) rescued strays (8/09).
  6. Hobbies/other interests outside of work:  I love my animals & my family.  We all love going on walks & taking our animals to the park.  Family time is important in our house.  We always try to do things together.  Sea World and Busch Gardens are our favorite spots to go.

Tell us about your pets: "Abby", (1999)  Blue Classic Tabby adopted from Northeast Animal Shelter; "Josie", (2001)  Brown Mackerel Tabby adopted from Serenity Pet ResQ;  "Duke", (2003)  Border Collie rescued from Pet Store (was "too old" and about to be sent back to??? Do we want to know!!??) "Lilly" pictured(3/07) red mackerel tabby adopted from client that rescued her from a dog attack; "Alice" (2009) was found in the animal hospital parking lot with her tail missing and her bottom jaw damaged; "Calvin" (2011) adopted from a client who saved his pregnant mom.
  9. Hobbies other interests outside of work: Spending time with my daughter and granddaughter, going to Disney World.

  4. What you like best about working at C.A.H.: I love the animals & clients, but I could work many places and get that… what I really like about CAH is the staff and management; we are a family.

  6. Favorite breed or type of animal: I love cats! The every day tabby is my favorite. I love Dobermans also!
  7. Tell us about your pets:  "Asia"  (2000) brown classic tabby DSH with short kinked tail rescued stray. She is FIV positive but doing well. "Aaliyah" (Baby Liyah), (2001) (pictured) brought to CAH as a newborn unable to nurse due to brain trauma at birth, I bottle fed her and she eventually lost her head tilt and is pretty close to being a normal cat!  "Jazmin'", (2013) my oldest son's silver tabby cat. "Thor", (2008) Doberman rescued from Orange County Animal Control.  "Nikki" (2009) a mixed breed dog my husband rescued from Afghanistan.
  8. Hobbies other interests outside of work: Enjoying time with my two sons, husband, friends & family.  Motorcycles (dirt and street) and watching MotoGP, going to the beach, orchid gardening, reading & quiet time.

  4. What you like best about working at C.A.H.: All of the friends I've made. Every day is different and a new learning experience.
  5. Special area of interest at CAH: assisting the doctors by holding pets. 
  6. Favorite breed or type of animal: Iguanas
  7. Tell us about your pets:  "Bella", rescued Rottweiler (8/5/08), "Sylvester" pictured (2002)  deaf 3-legged black & white DSH cat rescued from owner that could not care for his injuries.  
  8. Hobbies other interests outside of work: In the past I ran Central Florida Iguana Rescue. I love to work in the yard, grow veggies & plants, and spend time with my 2 children Kyle & Shaye.

Tell us about  your pets: "Ralph" (March 1996) African Grey bird that talks up a storm and is a very special guy!  "Smudge" (2003) very sweet female spayed shelter rescued mix-breed dog, "Kaia" (2003) goofy/sweet female spayed rescued golden retriever mix, "Smokey" (1997) my senior guy - neutered male black DSH cat, and a couple more rescued cats.
